About Wayanad

   The place is often called as the Green Paradise in the Godís Own Country! Wayanad is nestled among the mountains of the Western Ghats, forming the border world of the greener part of Kerala.

   Wayanad's unique geographical features lend a peculiar charm and a delightful challenge for the tourists and especially for nature freaks. Its mind-blowing scenery and wonderful climate creates a memorable experience for any tourist. The land where the great warrior down south Kerala Varma Passazhiraja fought is the most sought after tourist destination in India.


   The distance from the main sea level and the amount of forest cover creates a pleasant climate in the region. Generally the year is divided into four seasons; Cold weather (December to February) Hot weather (March to May) South West monsoon (June to September) and North East monsoon (October to November).
 During the hot weather the temperature goes up to a maximum of 35 °C (95 °F) and during the cold weather the temperature goes down to 10 °C (50 °F).

Getting There

By Air
Kozhikode airport is the nearest airport located at a distance of about 120 kms from the centre of the city. It is well connected by air to Mumbai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Goa, Madurai and Chennai.

By Rail
The Kozhikode railway station is located South of the Manachira Square is 90 Kms from Wayanad. The city is well connected by train to important places like Mangalore, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Coimbatore, Goa and Mumbai.

By Road
Kozhikode is well linked with various destinations in Kerala and beyond. National Highway 17 links Kozhikode with the rest of the cities in Kerala and neighboring states. Mysore , that is 130 Kms from Wayanad offers an adventurous drive through Muthanga Wild Life & Bandhipur forests.
